I was prescribed CIPRO as an antibiotic now that I am out of the hospital....
I don't want to take it, I don't even know why I don't want to take it.
Help?

curious...
why would someone (as opinionated) like you, alex, be debating whether or not to take medicine (of any nature/sort)???
i found this odd.
i was once prescribed some form of iron horse pill for my anemia. granted, iron and antibiotics are two different situations, but after i took one dose...i decided--'to hell with it'.
(of course, my decision was somewhat prompted by the obvious effects of taking concentrated iron)
you are the consequence of billions of years of evolution. the fact that you exist is evidence that your genes, alone, are sufficient.
fear is the bread winner, alex. you know this.
so what do you wanna do...reach for the golden ring?

Totally confused about urp, but that would not be the first time.
If you decide to not take the antibiotics, then do not take them and throw your doctors advice into the trash with the pills.
However, if you decide to take them, take them all when you are supposed to. After having a major opperation, it would probably be a good idea to take the antibiotics so that you can get rid of all the bacterea that decided to make your body their home while you were taking an nap in the operating room. And if you take some, then stop, then start, then stop, you will be making it worse because the weaker ones will be killed the first time, making more room for the stronger ones to grow. (much like those stupid antibiotic soaps.)

Beta-Decay:
For not knowing what URP means, that was a pretty good post...
"URP" is the sound one makes after ingesting something...

right now (about a month after my own surgery) am still working on a prescription for clindamycin (another antibiotic). Never tried cipro, but have heard on the news that it has some bad side effects. Clindamycin causes sever nausea at least once a day. But it is helping to heal over some exposed bone pretty well....
